The world’s largest martial arts class (Jiu-Jitsu) was conducted today in Abu Dhabi [25th November 2015] coinciding with the National Sports Day and marking UAE’s 44th National Day. The event is organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), and in partnership with Palms Sports. The event was attended by the Guinness World Records committee and witnessed the participation of 3,500 jiu-jitsu pupils from Abu Dhabi schools.
Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most popular sports in Abu Dhabi schools. While the UAE is home to many Jiu-Jitsu Asia and world champions and a host to numerous Jiu-Jitsu world tournaments, which contributed to transforming the UAE into a world leader in jiu-jitsu with developed and integrated infrastructure which includes training camps under the supervision of professional Jiu-Jitsu trainers aiming to develop the skills of players of all age groups, enhance their techniques and abilities to compete in world tournaments.
“We have chosen to organise this event to coincide with the National Sports Day to assert the UAE’s leading role in promoting Jiu-Jitsu and its values, and to celebrate the spirit of the union expressed in the UAE’s 44th National Day. We have been inspired by our wise leadership’s vision to promote and drive the motivation to Be the Best by attempting to set a new world record for the UAE. We have promised, at the start of the Jiu-Jitsu 2015/2016 season, all Jiu-Jitsu fans a surprise and true to our promise we are organising the world’s largest martial arts class for them,” said HE Abdulmunem Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation.
