Good things have been happening on the Saudi Arabia MMA scene lately. After Desert Force organized their first event on KSA soil, guess who was in Saudi Arabia this week? You have probably seen a lot of photos for UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov in Mecca, as he frequently visits to pray in the holy land. But this time things are a bit spicier as Khabib and his team visited Motafa Rashed’s MMA Jeddah Team. Mostafa Rashed’s name has become even more popular on the regional MMA scene after recently participating in Desert Force event in KSA and finishing his opponent in the first round via TKO.
Mostafa Rashed:
“I would like to thank Khabib for his humbleness and for visiting our gym MMA Jeddah. Training with a fighter of his caliber was a plus for everyone on my team. This guy’s mental toughness is hard to ignore. We had a great training session as Khabib shared some of his personal fighting techniques. Not only does he use his brute strength, this man uses his talent, power and a fight plan .We really benefited from this visit.
Rashed and the rest of the team offered Khabib a tour in Jeddah after training. Luckily the Jeddah festival was taking place at that time, it happens once a year and they had the chance to show him the experience. People were very welcoming which made him enjoy his stay.
“I did not expect such a warm welcome” mentioned Khabib.
Known to be an active Muslim, Khabib then went on to visit the holy land of Mecca , the place where he often goes to find a sense of spirituality. Religious beliefs play a big part in a fighter’s life. For some, it’s a way of life, keeping them away from alcohol and other forms of distractions, and distinguishing them as exceptional fighters.
Famous quote from Khabib Nurmagomedov:
[box type=”shadow”]About Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov:“There are fighters in America who can drink on Friday and Saturday. After an event I saw it myself in the hotel: 80% of them are already drunk. Not the champs but middle-of-the-pack guys, guys like ‘one win, two losses’. Couple of times they called me with them to the club. I told them I’m a Muslim. And they were like ‘Come on, we know two Muslims and they visit the clubs with us all the time!’ I have tried to explain them: ‘a Muslim is not ideal but Islam is’. Alcohol and girls stand in a way of an athlete, they spoil him and make him weak.”
