Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) rising undefeated super welterweight star, Eliezer ‘’King Kong’’ Kubanza (5-0-0) is set to make his return after his dominant win at BRAVE CF 79 against Adel Ibrahim from Lebanon that sent shockwaves across the MMA world.
After his debut at BRAVE CF, Kubanza’s style and ring presence drew comparisons between Francis Ngannou, who took UFC by storm after winning the KHK National MMA Tryouts in Bahrain. Currently undefeated in his professional career, Kubanza is not taking the easy road. He is taking fights on short notice against undefeated opponents giving them their first taste of loss.
Growth of MMA in the Arab World
The Congolese sensation has announced his ambition to conquer the super welterweight championship at the promotion. While making his intentions clear he praised the growth and support system for MMA in the Middle East, especially in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
“I am grateful towards the leadership in the great nations of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and UAE for nurturing a supportive ecosystem for Mixed Martial Arts. Now athletes from Africa and Asia have a more viable option to catapult their careers in the Middle East. The focus from the grassroots levels makes it easier for athletes to improve their skill sets in a competitive environment.”, shared Eliezer Kubanza.
Special Mention ABout Mohammad Fakhreddine
Kubanza thanked the passion and level of knowledge of Arab MMA fans who have supported him constantly throughout his career. “The level of respect the Arab MMA fans have is amazing. During recent years the increase in the number of events in the region and the growth in number of athletes from the region with diverse skill sets is a testament. While the vision of leaders like His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa transformed the future of the sport in the region, the business acumen of leaders like Mohammed Shahid has changed the lives of numerous athletes. And we must not forget the sacrifices and initial steps taken by pioneers of sport in the region like Mohammad Fakhreddine”, pointed out the undefeated MMA star.
Kubanza will be among the top draws at the BRAVE International Combat Week 2024. The International Combat Week 2024 will also feature the IMMAF Asian Championships from August 18 to 22. This is the first time Pakistan will host these championships, marking a significant milestone for MMA in the country and the region. In the second half of 2024, BRAVE CF has announced plans to host 6 global events in 70 days across Europe and Asia.
