Indian featherweight fighter, Abdul Muneer signed the fight contract to compete in Brave Combat Federation. Abdul Muneer (6-3-0) is the 2016 Indian Fighter of the Year (The Fan Garage), 7 times State Champion in Boxing (Kerala) 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, Best Boxer (Kerala) 2006 & 2007 and Kickboxing National Champion (2009). Considered as one among the best featherweight fighters in India, Abdul Muneer made an impact as he represented India against Pakistan in SFL, Dubai and knocked his opponent in 48 seconds of the first round.
He became the first Indian to be featured in a co-main event of a global MMA promotion as he represented India at Brave 5 held in Mumbai. Abdul Muneer faced Gurdarshan Mangat from Canada in a bout that went the distance. Brave Combat Federation has announced that Muneer will be featured in the edition that will be hosted in India. Abdul Muneer will face Ali Al Qaisi from Jordan. Al Qaisi will be making his promotional debut in Brave Combat Federation with the edition in India. Jordan has produced some of the best fighters in the region including the current welterweight world champion of Brave Combat Federation, Jarrah Al Selawe, Jalal Al Daaja, Abdul Kareem Al-Selwady and Nawras Abzakh. The level of exposure to MMA in Jordan will be an advantage for Al Qaisi.
The bout is crucial since Muneer had two disappointing losses in the promotion despite showcasing stellar performance. The featherweight fighter had taken the initiative of developing the sport in India from a managerial level and a win will be crucial for the fighter. However the odds will be stacked against him as Al Qaisi is coming after two dominating wins in the defunct Phoenix Fighting Championship. Brave 20 will be held in association with Mercury Sports and will mark the second edition of the promotion taking place in India.
