It’s official! Jordanian lightweight Abdul-Kareem “Mini Hulk” Al-Selwady will be making his third appearance at Brave Combat Federation against Erick Carlos Silva this November, the fighter confirmed today during his live Facebook session on ArabsMMA.
With a professional record of 7 wins and only 1 loss, the young Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady has been running a streak of impressive performances since his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2012. Beginning his career as a featherweight, Al-Selwady fought his way to eventually grabbing and defending the Desert Force featherweight champion. He suffered his first and only defeat thus far in his career at his 5th professional fight in a huge upset TKO loss against Aziz Julaidan, who was his rival team coach on season 2 of the Desert Force Al Academia reality show.
Nonetheless, Al-Selwady was able to quickly bounce back and get 3 straight wins. Having gone to distance only once t a decision victory over Lois Cadet in Desert Force, Al-Selwady has had a variety of finishes inside the cage. In his last two fights, Al-Selwady jumped up to the lightweight division and fought at Brave Combat Federation where he defeated Swedish opponent Rami Aziz at Brave 1: The Beginning via first round choke, and then beat the Brazilian Michael Diega-Scheck via first round TKO.
Erick Carlos Silva, to say the least, is a mixed martial arts veteran who is going to be Al-Selwady’s toughest career challenge yet. With a professional mixed martial arts record of 21-4, Erick Carlos Silva has competed on the 4th season of The Ultimate Fighter, winning his first fight via TKO against Gabriel Macario, but later losing by decision against Joaquim Silva. Erick Carlos Silva is now on 6 fight winning streak, victorious via split decision in his last fight at Brave CF 5 against his opponent Brain Hooi from the Netherlands. A former competitor on The Ultimate Fighter, Erick Carlos Silva is a hard pill to swallow and can be an overwhelming opponent for anyone.
With a fight of this magnitude, a win for Al-Selwady will be a huge confidence booster and will shoot him high up the world mixed martial arts lightweight rankings. Perhaps the winner would sooner or later be fighting for the Brave Combat Federation lightweight title strap?
Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions is set to take place on November 17th, at the Khalifa Sports City Arena. The event will highlight the International Combat Week alongside the IMMAF World Championships which will also take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
