Well here’s an interesting announcement! Desert Force Dubai (Desert Force 20) fight card is coming together quickly with the latest addition of “Al Batal” lightweight champion Walid Seghir (3-2). He will face Filipino Vaughn Donayre (8-3) in a lightweight match up as part of the undercard.
Walid Seghir joined Al Batal as the only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt on the show and made it to the 70KG finals after hastily choking out his opponent in less than 30 seconds (video below) His final fight did not end as quickly though, after 3 grueling rounds against Tariq Ismail followed by a controversial hand raise Steve Harvey style. Yet, after all was said and done, the score cards were clear and Walid’s hand was raised.
Walid Seghir is the teammate of Mohammad Sayyah who recently scored a first round TKO victory in Desert Force Egypt event. Both fighters were recently spotted at Tristar Canada as part of Seghir’s training camp for this fight, serious training at the Home Of Champions.
The first time we saw an “Al Batal” champ in Desert Force was when Middleweight champion Walid Akrouh faced Ramy Hamed in a welterweight matchup and got coldcocked in the first round, in one of the oddest KO’s ever seen.
Will Seghir have a different promotional debut?
