Featherweight top contenders Ali Al Qaisi and Chabane Chaibeddra have been officially scheduled to fight for the vacant Phoenix featherweight title this summer as announced by Chahe Yerevanian.
Coming off two impressive submission finishes that include 2 first round guillotine chokes against Philippe Massoud in Phoenix 4 and Juares Dea at Phoenix 6, the Jordanian contender Ali Qaisi (5-3-0) has made his way up the ranking to reach title contention in the Phoenix featherweight division. Originally a Sanda/Kung Fu striker, it’s impressive to see Al Qaisi so confident in his constantly evolving grappling ability, finishing fighters via choke holds on 3 occasions of his 4 wins in mixed martial arts. The only thing standing between him and the chance to become the promotion’s first every featherweight championship is a highly experienced opponent in Chabane Chaibeddra.
In his Phoenix debut at Phoenix 6 in Abu Dhabi, Chaibeddra (11-4-0) scored a TKO victory in the second round over Nelson Paes and exhibited an eye-catching performance that propelled him straight to a featherweight title shot in the promotion. Chaibeddra’s mixed martial arts experience allows him to be comfortable in fighting from any position. Having fought internationally in France, Germany, the Netherlands and even Saudi Arabia, Chaibeddra has faced some pretty high-level opponents in his career thus far. Now, he has the opportunity of adding the Phoenix featherweight title, which will no-doubt be his biggest accomplishment to date, to his already impressive resume.
Stay tuned for the full fight card of the Phoenix summer event in Dubai to be officially released soon.
