Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady will finally get the opportunity that he has been waiting for since mid-2015!
Less than a week to go until the Brave Combat Federation’s anticipated event in Jordan.
Al-Selwady is anxiously awaiting his chance to deliver his trademark outstanding and entertaining performance in front of his fans.
On the 2nd of March, Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady will lock up inside the Brave CF cage for the 4th time. He takes on Charlie Leary at Brave CF 10: The Kingdom Rises. A fighter who is passionate about representing his country, Al-Selwady is excited to come back to Jordan and put on a show. His motivation to push himself in his training goes beyond just making a successful and victorious appearance. He is committed to giving his absolute best to become recognized as one of the top lightweight fighters in the ME and the world.
“To be honest, I always give my best in training at Fortis MMA. I’m training hard not only because I’m fighting in Jordan, I’m training hard every time so that I can be known as the best lightweight fighter in the Middle East and the world.”
Al-Selwady’s upcoming opponent, Charlie Leary (14-8-1) believes that Al-Selwady will have a difficult time dealing with the pressure of fighting in his home town, having formerly stated: “He (Al-Selwady) can’t handle the pressure of fighting in his hometown.”
Al-Selwady, however, has a totally different perspective from Leary’s conclusion. In his experience, Al-Selwady explains that his home crowd never fails to fuel him with energy that encourages him to give an even better and more dominant performance.
“As for my opponent Charlie Leary saying that I’m going to be under pressure fighting in my hometown, I guess he doesn’t know that half of my fights have been in my hometown. The only thing I get from my crowd is positive energy! I use all of that energy and all of that support, and it just helps me to gain more confidence and motivation to beat my opponent in front of my people.”
It’s clear that Al-Selwady has respect for his experienced opponent. Yet, he’s confident that his physical abilities, technical skills and mental awareness surpass that of Leary’s and trusts that he will be walking away as the victor of the upcoming bout.
“He had a really nice brawl with Ottman Azaitar and an impressive KO over Daniele Scatizzi. Those were good fights and he proved that he’s a really tough guy, but I’m just a different person that he’s never fought before. I’m much smarter than he is, stronger, faster and I have more cardio. I just feel like he’s a really tough guy, but all around, I’m a better fighter and I’m going to leave March 2nd with my hand raised God willing.”
