Palestinian Abdulkareem Al Selwady set to fight at UFC Saudi Arabia

AbdulKareem Al Selwady has finally realized his longtime dream, as he takes on Loik Radzhabov at UFC Saudi Arabia. The Palestinian fighter went through the United States and the Middle East regional circuits to get to world-leading MMA promotion.

Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady’s Road to the UFC

During the first years of his professional career, Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady made his way from Desert Force to Brave CF. “Pride of Palestine” defeated Lucas Martns to win the lightweight championship at BRAVE CF18. After returning to his home country he experienced a hero welcome.

Unfortunately for him, he lost the belt at BRAVE CF 23 to Luan Santiago.

Like many fighters, Al-Selwady was forced to pause his career due to the world’s pandemic. After its end, he switched his attention to the United States. After stacking up a four-fight winning streak in both LFA and Fury FC. All his post-fight interviews had one thing in common – Al-Selwady stated that he wanted to join the UFC and was name-dropping the promotion’s boss, Dana White.

At Dana White’s Contender Series, he secured a UFC contract by defeating George Hardwick. In his post-fight interview, the Palestinian told about all the hardships that he went through to get to this point.

Al-Selwady has a 15 – 3 MMa record. Eight of his wins came by way of TKO. On the other hand, all three losses occurred when he was stopped by his opponent with their strikes. He’s currently riding a five-fight winning streak.

Radzhabov sports a 17 – 5 – 1 record. Interestingly enough, he began his professional fighting career on the European regional circuit. Back in 2019 he made his PFL debut and stacked up a promotional balance of 4 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. Being a two-time Grand Prix finalist didn’t save him from being released by the promotion. After that, he was victorious against Zach Zane at Eagle FC 44. A quick submission win granted him a UFC contract.

“The Tajik Tank” made his promotional debut at UFC 285, where he bested Esteban Ribovics. However, his UFC tenure was derailed after being knocked out by Polish Mateusz Rębecki on UFC on ABC 5. Now he will look to bounce back against “Pride of  Palestine.”
