Riyadh, KSA – Anas Siraj Mounir went the distance to defeat Amr Wahman, winning a unanimous decision in the main card bout for Desert Force 16 in Riyadh on Monday night.
The Moroccan Sensation is one of the most experienced fighters in Desert Force. Coming into the fight with a 3-1 record, Mounir showed to be a step quicker than Anas throughout the fight, earning the judges’ scores.
“I am a fan of Wahmann” Mounir said of Amr in his pre-fight interview. “He’s an awesome fighter, reminds me of Dan Henderson. He has an awesome right hand and he can be a great brawler, surely an awesome kickboxer”
The first round consisted of a lot of measuring, with momentary leg kicks from each fighter happening every so often. Both fighters hanpicking their shots. Wahman with his own combo, but Mounir drives him to the cage and takes him down, he lands in the side mount as the first ends.
The second round opened with a stiff body kick from Wahman that lands. Anas stops his rage and stuffs him on the cage, Wahman with a takedown of his own lands in half guard. Mounir recovers guard, fighters back up, but not for long. Anas in half guard dropping big punches. Amr rolls, Mounir in mount as the round ends.
In round 3, Mounir worked from half guard and transitions to mount, dropping big elbows opening up Wahman’s face. Wahman escaped the mount, but ended up stuck in a tight triangle with his face smashed big time! Wahman proceeds with his trademark combos not landing any. A stiff hook from Wahman, surprised how Anas still smiles and defends through the end of the round.
The welterweight bout was part of the Desert Force 16 main card which aired on MBC Action.
Anas improves his record to 4-1.
