BRAVE Combat Federation returns to Pakistan on August 18 for BRAVE CF 85 held as part of the BRAVE International Combat Week. The first visit of BRAVE Combat Federation to Pakistan happened in 2018 for BRAVE CF 17. The official weigh-ins were held on 17 August setting the tone for the most anticipated MMA event in the Indian subcontinent.
The Results
Despite the arduous journey, both Srikant Sekhar (70.8 kilograms) and Bharat Khandare (61.4 kilograms) made weight for their bouts against Pakistani stars Rizwan Ali (70.8 kg) and Zia Mashwani (61.5 kilograms), respectively. Omar Solomanov and Rauan Bekbolat made weight within the Featherweight limit for the main event. Omar weighed 66 kilograms on his second attempt, while Bekbolat registered 66.2 kilograms on his first attempt.
African superstar Eliezer Kubanza successfully made the Super Welterweight limit on his first attempt, weighing 79.3 kilograms. His opponent and promotional newcomer Salamat Orozakunov, needed two attempts to come in at 79.7 kilograms. Pakistani stars Abbas Khan, Ismail Khan, and Aqib Awan made weight for their respective fights. Aqib required a second attempt to reach the Flyweight limit, cutting down from 57.4 kilograms to 57.2 kilograms for his showdown against Marwin Quirante, who comfortably made weight at 55.9 kilograms on his first attempt.
Fighters Miss Weight
Mojtaba Nasiri, who is set to face Yuki Angdembe, the first-ever Nepalese fighter in BRAVE CF, missed weight. Nasiri weighed 62 kilograms on both attempts, exceeding the 61.7 kilograms Bantamweight limit. Yuki Angdembe cleared weight on his first attempt, coming in at 61.3 kilograms. As a result, Nasiri forfeited a percentage of his purse to Yuki, and a similar ordeal took place with Muhammad Idrisov and Lasha Abramishvili, as Idrisov missed weight by 100g. However, since it was a slight miss, Lasha agreed to the fight without taking a percentage of Idrisov’s purse, showing sportsmanship.
BRAVE CF 85 will be the fifth event of the year for the BRAVE Combat Federation. The organization extended its record of being the most-hosted MMA promotion globally with China becoming the 33rd host nation.
