LEBANON | Former lightweight champion Tareq Hamdi managed to grab the attention of everyone as he knocked out the number one lightweight contender live on MBC Action in the 18th installment of Desert Force which took place in Ghazir.
Desert Force’s 18 took place on the 17th of August 2015 at the Hikmeh Stadium in Ghazir, Lebanon. The lightweight bout was part of the Desert Force 18 main card and aired live on MBC Action.
Hamdi, being the early aggressor, came in swinging as he looked to send a clear message across the Desert Force lightweight division. The former Champion tagged Abdulahad Gari early and kept coming with stiff and powerful combinations , dictating the pace. Gari looked slow throughout and soon enough, Hamdi came in with some power shots, crowned by an over-hand right that dropped the Saudi, Gari, and forced the bout to end in Hamdi’s favor by way of KO in round one.

With this win , Hamdi improves his record to (3-1) and forces himself into a direct title contention. Gari on the other hand lost his spot as a number one contender as he marked his first career loss (3-1) in Desert Force 18.
