Late last year Desert Force revealed its 2016 schedule of events which elicited excitement as mixed martial arts fans found out that Desert Force 21 would take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), on March 7th. This will be the third time Desert Force heads over to the Kingdom.
The first time Desert Force landed in KSA was for the Al Academiya Season two Finale of Desert Force 14. A complete slobber knocker it entailed Georges Bardawil from Lebanon who emerged as the bantamweight Al Academiya winner with a one of a kind submission win, Ghaleb Harahshe from Jordan came out on top of the featherweight division of AL Academiya, and Aziz Julaidan shocked the Arab region by knocking out the former champion Abdulkareem Al Selwady during the title fight of the division and became the new Desert Force featherweight champion.
Desert Force 16 was the promotions second appearance in KSA. It was headlined by the Welterweight title fight between Mohammad Ghorabi from Lebanon verse the local Mounir Lazzez. In a roof raising event “The Sniper” Lazzez, an unstoppable force of nature, finally put an end to “The Killer” Ghorabi’s domination.
Now that Desert Force is once again to take place in KSA, nothing but the biggest fights are promised to the come. No bouts have officially been announced but there are two possible rumored title fights circulating. Saudi national Aziz Julaidan could possibly defend his title for the first time after more than one year of absence since Desert Force 14. It was there that he dethroned Al Selwady in the opening round via a crisp right hand followed with some mean strikes that forced the referee Yazan Ghattas to step in and end the bout.
The vacant spot in the light heavyweight division title could also be on on the table. Though this division lacks much competition, there are two contenders that come to mind. The Saudi national Mostafa Rashed, who holds a professional record of 3-0 in the Desert Force cage, could face the Egyptian national Osama Al Saidy for the light heavyweight shield.
The rest of the card is being built up heavy. Lets check out the full rumored fight card here, only on Arabsmma.com!
What about Marc Tanios from Lebanon for the tittle fight ? Wasnt he the no.1 ?
Tanios fights in heavyweight not light heavyweight.
With all due respect to Mirza. His selection of fights is not the best. Juleidan should fight against the algerian warrior Chabane Chaibeddra. That should be a nice fight and worthy of the title.
That would not be competitive, so why book that one? Chabane – walid seghir is a good one
