The 66 KG division in Desert Force is getting packed up with a lot of interesting fighters and a lot of potentially good match-ups.
Rami Aziz, the new kid on the block in the 66 KG division, with a 5-2 record before coming to Desert Force, showed some dominant grappling skills in Desert Force 12 and managed to secure a unanimous decision victory over a well-rounded French opponent in Louis Cadet’s, making it a 6-2 in professional fights for Rami Aziz.
On the other hand, Yousef “Polvo” Al-Hamad, also known as “The Octopus”, has been out of action since December 2013 after suffering his first defeat in the 66 KG title fight in Desert Force to the current champion Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady, making his professional record 3-1. “The Octopus”, however, won all his fights in the first round by submission and showed one of the best BJJ ground games in Desert Force so far.
Whereas Rami Aziz, portrayed some good take-downs and wrestling skills being able to pin his opponent and deliver damage in his 3 round fight, Al-Hamad is a BJJ black belt that can get any fighter in his division in trouble off his back. It would be interesting to see how the match-up goes. Will Aziz shoot for a take-down and risk being in Al-Hamad’s guard, or will he be able to control the ground game ? And, if both fighters aren’t able to take it to the ground, are fans in for a potential slobber-knocker?
Doubtlessly, these guys both have excellent grappling skills. It would be interesting to see how a fight between these two contenders goes.
