Similar to Desert Force Al Academiya Season 1’s Tarek Hamdi at lightweight, Season 2 saw the crowning of a huge underdog at 61 KG as the Al Academiya Season 2 bantamweight champion, Georges Bardawil.
Fighting out of Tristar Gym Lebanon, Bardawil had his first official fight as a professional inside the Desert Force cage with a blink quick submission victory via triangle/kimura against Phillip Massoud, which showed his slick ground game and lightning fast evolution as a mixed martial arts fighter. Now, Bardawil has grabbed the attention of many and is possibly right in the pocket for becoming the first bantamweight champion in Desert Force. Not only is the bantamweight division an exciting division and latest addition to Desert Force, but a bantamweight champion will only make the division much more competitive and exciting.
Having said this, Bardawil is rumored to be fighting on the next Desert Force in KSA, Desert Force 16. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but it will be interesting to see Bardawil back in action and even more interesting to see who he will be up against. This fight will surely reveal a lot of things about the new bantamweight division in Desert Force.
