It has been confirmed that Desert Force 16 will witness a bantamweight match-up between Al Academiya bantamweight season 2 winner, Georges Bardawil vs the man of steel, Ahmad Makki.
Those who followed Al Academiya Season 2 know that Bardawil was an underdog, having lost his quarter finals fight to Younes, only to come back and not only defeat Younes, but win the prestigious Season 2 shield. Training under Tristar Gym Lebanon, Bardawil showed to be a well-rounded and always evolving fighter in all aspects of the mixed martial arts game.
Training and fighting out of Black House MMA , Ahmad Makki made his Desert Force debut on the 15th of December 2014, in the very same event where Bardawil was crowned as the Al Academiya 2 champion. After an ultra entertaining match-up with Abdul Kader Sawwan, his debut ended with a draw. In the match, however, Makki showed a lot of eye catching aspects. Seemingly having an indestructible chin with a high tolerance for damage, Makki showed a dangerous ground game and dangerous overall grappling.
Stylistically, perhaps Bardawil is the better striker, but does he posses enough power to stop Makki ? Also, Bardawil has always showed a good ground game, but how will it compare to the ground game of Makki if the fight goes to the ground ? This fight will not only take these guys to the next step to achieving the first ever Desert Force bantamweight title crest, but a win will give their respective clubs bragging rights, both coming from such prestigious teams as Tristar and Black House.
