After an earlier announcement about the event’s championship headliner, Desert Force 16 now has an intriguing co-headliner.
Officials today announced that current Desert Force lightweight Champion Tarek Hamdi will defend his title for the first time against the Saudi Golden boy Abdulahad Gari at this event.
Desert Force 16 takes place March 23 in Riyadh, KSA. A venue has not been announced, but the Desert Force’s inaugural first trip to the country proved to be a game changer. Desert Force 16 headliner, which was announced earlier this month, the scariest men at welterweight, Mohammad Ghorabi (3-0 Desert Force) meets the “Sniper” Mounir Lazzez (2-0 Desert Force) in fight that is a 100% main event material.
The main card, including the co-headliners, airs Live on MBC Action following the prelims.
Hamdi earned his title shot after coming a long way and defeating Elie El rayyis at Desert Force “Al Academiya” Season one Finale. He then submitted the former champ Haider Rasheed at Desert Force 12 in April 2014 to earn the Desert Force lightweight championship shield.
Tareq Hamdi now meets Saudi Arabia’s Abdulahad Gari, one of the most promising Arab talents in the lightweight division. Gari, a dangerous challenger, is one of the top contenders in the division and earned his shot at the title after 3 consecutive wins under the Desert Force Banner.
