IMMAF 2014 Day 2, 3 Members of Team Lebanon Carry the Flag Forward

Day 2 of the IMMAF’s first-ever amateur Mixed Martial Arts World Championships is in the books, and 3 members of the Lebanese national team, Imad Hoayek, Rachel Abou Abdallah, and Joeshwa Mortada will carry the Lebanese flag forward to the next stage.

Joeshwa Mortada soundly outworked the top-ranked Italian opponent to earn a well-deserved decision. Teammates Richard Saliba and Ricardo Bachir were not lucky enough during their first confrontations inside the IMMAF cage. Richard Saliba lost via Guoillotine choke, and Ricardo fought to a decision loss.

The five-day IMMAF World Championships started at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) inside the Cox Pavilion on Monday, June 30. For the World Championship finals, which take place Saturday, July 5, the IMMAF takes center stage at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center as part of the UFC Fan Expo. Athletes in their respective weight classes will enter the world famous eight-sided MMA ring to win the first-ever IMMAF gold medal.
