The World Jiu-Jitsu Children’s Cup hit top gear today as the youth event continued to warm up for this week’s upcoming Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
An incredible 924 male youth participants took to the mat to showcase their hard-work, skills and talent. Crowds at IPIC Arena at Zayed Sports City backed the local competitors to success. The UAE youth team made an impressive mark on the second day with 30 gold, 35 silver and 42 bronze medals. The second day of the World Jiu-Jitsu Children’s Championship was attended by His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, board members Mr Mohammed Dalmoog Al Dhaheri, Mr Youssef Batroun and Mr Mansour Al Dhaheri, and Mr Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, CEO of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Key Emirati talent shone brightly on the mat, such as black belt Khaled Al Otaibi and grey belts Abdulrahman Mohammed and Abdulraheem Abdullah who each gave impressive performances, securing them gold medal wins. In addition, orange belt Abdulla Al Musabi set a new level of competition and earned the gold medal for the 50.5kg division.
Tthe final day of youth competition saw 111 teams in action, many of them from local schools, with the UAE winning 21 gold, 23 silver and 49 bronze medals. The athletes were representing their various countries with a total of 31 different nationalities battling across 49 different divisions with white, blue orange and green belts taking to the mats.
