UAE Warriors 33 co-headliner will be a welterweight title affair. Josh Togo will face Tahir Abdullaev for the title. The event will take place on September 17 at Eithad Arena in Abu Dhabi. It will be headlined by a featherweight title rematch between Jesse Arnett and Ali AlQaisi.
Fighters profiles
Togo made his UAE Warriors debut back in 2020. The Australian Top Team member beat Ali Dyusenov at UAE Warriors 10. However, the pandemic put his stint with the promotion on hold. He won 7 out of his last 9 bouts and rides a two-fight winning streak. In his most recent bout, he was victorious over Edmiar Teixeira at Urban Fight Night 30 back in June.
Abdullaev sports a 13 – 1 record. He’s a Russian MMA circuit veteran who fought in various promotions. He made his UAE Warriors debut back almost a year ago by beating Daniel Skibiński. The Azerbaijan fighter comes in strong, looking to prolong his seven-fight winning streak. His most recent fight also took place in June. At AMF Fight Night 112 he was victorious over Maxim Butorin.
Fight prediction
Togo was awarded most of his victories by the judges. He only secured four TKO wins and never managed to submit any of his opponents. Two of them came on the first outing. The Lebanon fighter was forced to submit on two different occasions.
Abdullaev has 6 TKO/KO finishes to his name. Most of them came in the opening round. The Azerbaijan fighter has also 4 submissions victories, which he secured in the first and second rounds. He was awarded victory by the judges on four different occasions. His sole defeat came by way of submission.
It’s easy to see that Togo will look to outrun Abdullaev. The Australian Top Team member is used to longer fights, while his opponent made a habit of finishing earlier. The longer the fight the more it will favor Togo.
