Seems like the Desert Force Light Heavyweight Champion Mhamad Karaki is keeping busy as he recently announced to an ArabsMMA reporter that he will be competing at the Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Cup taking place this weekend at the new UAE JJ Headquarters, the FGB Arena, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Karaki was recently promoted to purple belt under Moroccan Black Belt Hicham Hakam of Equipe Elite and will be competing and representing his school for the first time as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt.
The timing of this competition is critical for Karaki as he gets ready for his soon to be announced Desert Force title defense. After his latest win against Feras Saada which granted him the Desert Force Shield back in 2013, the champ has not competed since and will look to regain his competitive focus in UAE.
It is my first time competing and representing Equipe Elite as a purple belt. I have been thinking about competing in Abu Dhabi for a while and thanks to the Lebanese Jujitsu Federation, Team Shogun and my sponsors ” Level 8 “, ” Manic Gym ” and ” Rawmanic ” who made this trip possible on such short notice
A tournament like this one will feature some of the best BJJ Arab practitioners along with some of the resident foreigners in Abu Dhabi. Given the lack of BJJ presence in Lebanon, this will put Karaki back into competition mode and prepare him mentally and physically.
Karaki’s appearance will surely make all the Lebanese martial art fans proud no matter the results! Let’s see what the Champ will bring back!
ilove you my cousein mohammad
