In an effort to “clean up the sport”, the MMA MENA Athletic Commission has gone through with major initiatives and additions to its drug testing standards that will soon go into effect.

Following up on the news that 2 fighters were randomly tested ahead of Desert Force 17, MMA MENA Athletic Commission commissioner Jeoffrey Farley spoke with ArabsMMA regarding the recent drug testing policy, and revealed that the commission will now be randomly testing all fighters in contract with Desert Force.

The MMA MENA Commission in cooperation with Desert Force would like to announce the results of the pre-fight drug testing conducted prior to Desert Force 17 in Amman Jordan. After the official DF17 weigh in, the MENA Athletic Commission in cooperation with Desert Force selected 2 fighters at random from the fight card to be tested for performance enhancing drugs (PED’s). The results of the tests came back negative. The commission will continue to work closely with Desert Force to help keep the sport free of athletes who choose to use PED’s. The MENA MMA commission will continue to utilize random pre and post fight drug screening to all fighters who are under the contract with Desert Force. Together we will continue to provide a clean and fair fighting promotion to all fighters.

Farley explained that the increased scrutiny is the only way to further the evolution of the sport in the long term. All fighters who are in contract with Desert Force or in other circumstances appear on a Desert Force card are subject to random, pre and post fight tests, as well as tests based on reasonable suspicion. The terms and conditions of the testing policy will be outlined in a later press release. The intent of this policy is to prevent PED use and abuse through education, testing, and professional guidance.

The penalties that will be enforced if any fighter shall test positive are to be officially released on ArabsMMA.com! Stay tuned.
