Dubai, UAE – Mohamed Walid, 21, was be the sole UAE and sole Arab representative at One FC 19 “Reign of Champions” on Friday [August 29,2014] at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai. Reign of Champions” is the best card the promotion has ever put together and featured three title fights, with both Shinya Aoki and Ben Askren on the lineup. However, for local fans, Walid’s bout with Vaughn Donayre was the highlight of the night.
Walid managed to lock a solid armbar on Filipino opponent Vaughn Donayre, another who fights out of Dubai, in just over a minute of the first round of their catchweight fight.
Donayre was the first to rush into this battle with quick punches and a successful takedown attempt. But that was no match to Walid’s Jiu-Jitsu who took control from there. Walid mounted Donayre and went for a well timed armbar submitting the Filipino early in the first round.
To all the doubters! Yes he did it … and in a spectacular fashion.
Mohammed Walid held a 3-0 record, and tonight [Friday August 29] he still has a perfect record with four wins to his name!
Walid celebrated by thanking his coach, father and, conveying his gratitude to Sheikh Khalifa, President of the UAE, and the rest of Dubai’s leadership for the continued support for martial arts.
