Algerian Nordine Mahieddine
The upcoming GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix at the GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands, on March 9th, has seen a significant lineup change. Nordine Mahieddine (25-18, 13 KOs), a formidable French Algerian heavyweight, is set to replace Antonio Plazibat. Plazibat has withdrawn due to an arm injury sustained at COLLISION 5 last summer. The Croatian fighter requires additional recovery time before he can safely return to the ring.
Ranked fourth in the heavyweight division, Mahieddine was initially slated for a reserve bout in the Grand Prix, following his spectacular head kick knockout victory in Paris last September. He now steps up to join the main event, a high-stakes $500,000 eight-man, one-night tournament.
THE ROSTER
This tournament features an elite roster of fighters including the ‘King of Kickboxing’ Rico Verhoeven (60-10, 20 KOs), Tariq ‘Cookie’ Osaro (25-3-1, 13 KOs), Levi Rigters (15-1, 7 KOs), Uku Jürjendal (20-8, 16 KOs), Bahram Rajabzadeh (65-1, 58 KOs), Nabil Khachab (26-4-1, 4 KOs), and Sofian Laïdouni (35-2-1, 17 KOs).
With Mahieddine’s move to the main card, Romania’s Benjamin Adegbuyi (35-7, 20 KOs) will now face Turkey’s Cihad Kepenek (21-6, 15 KOs) in the reserve bout. The winner of this match could potentially be called up to the Grand Prix in the event of a dropout or injury.
Additionally, GLORY has provided an update on Jamal Ben Saddik. After careful deliberation, it has been determined that a return in March would be too soon for the popular heavyweight. As such, he will not be participating in the upcoming Grand Prix. Further details about his comeback will be announced soon.
