Phoenix 4: Roman Wehbe TKO’s Abu Shreekh In Dubai

As a Mixed Martial Arts lover, there are times when you just know that a fight won’t be going to distance. That was the case at last Friday’s Phoenix 4 Dubai when the heavyweights Roman Wehbe and Youssef Abu Shreekh faced off against each other inside the Phoenix FC cage.

Though originally scheduled to face Amin Nacheb for a rematch, a match that didn’t happen due to Visa complications suffered by Nacheb, Youssef Abu Shreekh eventually ended up facing a much different opponent in Roman Wehbe, who also has a late notice change of opponent himself after being originally scheduled to fight Fabiano Silva.

In the first round, Abu Shreekh came out guns blazing with his brick heavy hands, rocking Wehbe early in the round. A little dazed, Wehbe fought back, landing a few vicious strikes of his own and then forcing Abu Shreekh into a grappling situation. Shortly after, the referee had to step in and separate the action between the two as a result of a few illegal elbows landed by Wehbe to the back of his opponents head. Taking his time to recover, the fight restarted and Abu Shreekh came back surprisingly shooting for a take-down on Wehbe, but the Lebanese-Russian reversed the attempt and ended up dropping bombs on Abu Shreekh that ended the fight in a TKO victory for the heavyweight.

As a result, Roman Wehbe has pushed his professional Mixed Martial Arts record to 7-6 in his Phoenix Fighting Championship debut. The performance he put on and the way that he finished an extremely tough opponent in Abu Shreekh deserves that we see him in action once again very soon.
