Rumor has it that a fight is to be announced between Mohamad Triki from Morocco and Silvester Saba from Lebanon.
Both these fighters have been previously part of the Desert Force Al Academia Season 1 show. Silvester Saba made it all the way to the semi-finals, losing a unanimous decision fight to Tarek Hamdi, who had not only won the Academia show, but went on to win the Desert Force lightweight title. Moahamd Triki made it to the quarter finals where he lost a unanimous decision to welterweight favorite Izz El Deen Belharch.
The always entertaining Silvester Saba had three fights in Desert Force prior to the Al Academia show and came back after the show with a unanimous decision victory over, always tough, Mahmoud “Balardoo” Saeed. On the other hand, Mohamad Triki made his official Desert Force debut after the Al Academia show, dropping to lightweight and beating both Ahmad Al Boussairy via first round armbar submission and later Mohamed Hassan Badawy via first round TKO.
This match is so interesting because both these fighters are, to some extent, identical in their technique arsenal. Both fighters are good strikers, Silvester Saba a boxer and Mohamad Triki a Muay Thai fighter. Although they do not usually choose to take the fight to the ground, both these guys have a good ground game that they utilized well in all their previous fights. Also, the reach advantage both use and build upon in their fights is not an issue here because both are equal in their reach as well.
The game plan Saba and Triki choose to come with is critical in this one. Saba fighting out of Tristar Gym Lebanon and Triki out of Rebels Team Morocco. Their coaches and corners have a lot of work to do. And whether these guys choose to stand and bang in the middle of the cage or take it down for some ground work, this one is surely not to miss.
