Following the success of TGC (Tunisian Grappling Championship) in 2011, 2012, and 2013, the events that, according to TGC officials, witnessed massive participation from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden, “Fethi Djebbi” and “Horizons Sport” are proud to bring this year’s TGC 2014, the first Tunisian Open Grappling Tournament which is set for the 22nd and 23rd of November, don’t miss the dates! The event will take place at Hammamet, Nabeul, Tunisia. This edition of Tunisian Grappling Championship also features TGC Kids grappling for children under 16 years of age.
Tunisian Grappling Championship 2014 Rules:
Tunisian Grappling Championship is an elimination tournament whereby one winner is promoted to each round.
No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing.
The carpet area is 9 x 9 meters, no cage or fence.
If the fighters come out of this area, the referee will restart the fight in the center of the mat in the same position they were when they left the mat. If the fighters were standing, they will start again face to face.
TGC championship is a tournament where does not allow the use of doping, steroids and other banned drugs.
Winning:
- If a contestant gives up or submits by tapping the leg, arm or verbally
- If the referee feels that a competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger, the referee declares the winner
- If a fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the referee.

Qualifying Rounds:
- Fights take place over a period of 5 minutes with scoring.
- An extension of 5 minutes if the fight ends in a draw.
- Only one extension is given and the judges will decide the winner.
Legal Techniques:
- Any kind of choke (except for using the hand on the throat).
- Armbar, shoulder or wrist, feet, knee or ankle.
Illegal techniques:
- No slamming
- No eye gouging
- No pulling the ears
- No hair pulling
- No twisting of fingers or toes
- No insults
- No scratching
- No kicking
- No biting
- No touching the groin area
- No hands, knees or elbows on face
- No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing
Men Weight categories:
- -67kg
- -75kg
- -85kg
- -95kg
- + 95kg
The referee’s decisions can not be undone.
Tapping will not be considered after the fight.
