United Kingdom – The ceremonial weigh-ins are complete for Phoenix Championship’s first event outside Beirut, “Phoenix 3: UK Vs the World” at London, UK.
The public weigh-ins took place yesterday night [Thursday September 21, 2017] at the Indigo O2 arena.
On the Phoenix 3 MMA card, Youssef Wehbe (6-3-0) takes on England’s Alfie Davis (8-1-0) in a lightweight bout. The two had a heated exchange of words at the face-off in front of the fans and media.
The beef between the two fighters started at the official weigh-ins which were held earlier that day at the Intercontinental O2 from 10am to 12pm, to which Davis was 1 hour and 30 minutes late. Wehbe was obviously not content with the Brit’s unprofessional conduct, specially that he was still 300 grams overweight. While Davis was technically the culprit, he still voiced verbal attacks to Wehbe, saying that “I will knock you out inside the cage”.
Also at the ceremonial weigh-ins, Jordanian Ezzedine Al Derbane (6-0-0) and UK’s Ashleigh Grimshaw (18-10-1) got into a heated altrecation before they were held back by Phoenix officials.
These two opponents’ enmity dates back to the moment their bout was officially confirmed by Phoenix management.
