Egyptian fighters have always showcased aggressive striking in combat sports and readiness to take a fight on short notice against any opponent. With its ups and downs, this spirit is very well the reason why a lot of fans spend time and money to enjoy fight nights with these kinds of fighters.
As 2015 comes to an end, Desert Force promotion announces its location for its upcoming event, and it is non else than the Land of Pharaohs. Egypt, the house of Desert Force Champion Ibrahim Elsawi and fighters such as Amr Wahman, Ossama Saeedy and Mohammad Hassan, will welcome Desert Force Al Academiya Season 3 Finale, headlined by a title fight pitting the current middle weight champion Ibrahim Elsawi VS the former Light heavyweight champion Mohammad Karaki.
Yet, when discussing the Egyptian MMA scene, one familiar name comes to mind; Ahmed Amir. A well rounded fighter, Amir has been in and out of local grappling competitions and has been spotted with fellow Egyptian fighter Ossama saeidy, who is also a Kuwaiti resident.
Amir made his professional Debut with a lightweight bout in Desert Force against Hamza Nafush. That first fight may not have been the best first impression of his fighting skill which could very well have been related to his weight cut.
Ahmed went up to the welterweight division shortly after, where he defeated Talal Gorba in Cage Fighters – a local Kuwaiti promotion. He then went on to fight in Global Fighting Championship at 84Kg! Yup, these Egyptians will take any fight any time. His opponent was Iranian Hussein Mollamahdi! Remember this name? Mollamahdi faced Mohammed Karaki in his Middle weight debut.
The fight will show how Amir came back after being knocked down, only to submit Mollamahdi with an arm triangle, in one of the nicest comebacks we’ve seen.
Amir would definitely be a great addition to the fight card being cooked for Egypt’s Desert Force. As the card will surely be stacked with local fighters, it would be a loss not to see Ahmed Amir in the cage in-front of his home crowd. What do you guys think?
