Alderbani and Garnett’s Show of Solidarity at BRAVE CF 80

As the Khalifa Sports City Arena gears up for the BRAVE Combat Federation’s final event of the year, a unique story unfolds, highlighting more than just the fights. The night before BRAVE CF 80, at the weigh-ins, a special moment captures the crowd’s attention. It’s between Palestinian Izzeldine Al-Derbani and Dean Garnett from UK, England who are set to face each other in the bantamweight division.

The ceremonial weigh-ins are usually a routine affair, but this time it’s different. Al-Derbani walks in, carrying the Palestinian flag with pride. He approaches Garnett, wraps the flag around his neck, and turns to the crowd. This isn’t just about showing off his flag; it’s a symbol of his identity and struggle.

Then comes a surprise. A teammate throws Al-Derbani a kufiya. He wraps it around his waist, making a statement without saying a word. The crowd watches as Al-Derbani returns to Garnett, kisses him on the forehead, and they share a respectful faceoff and a hug. This isn’t just about sportsmanship; it’s a sign of respect between two fighters from different worlds but clarity on what is right and wrong.

Main / Co-Main Face-Offs

In the main event of the evening, Jose ‘’Shorty’’ Torres and Nkosi Ndebele, who will face off in a rematch of their first fight, came out with the flags of their countries – Nkosi representing South Africa, while the champion Torres came in with the USA and Bahrain flags.

Their staredown was one of the high points of the evening, with the tension in the air nearly boiling over. Both men kept their statements short, with Nkosi saying that he was ‘’merely getting what was already his’’, while Torres was eager to show he was the real and dominant champion of the Bantamweight division.

Another tense moment came in the co-main event, with Jarrah Al-Silawi and Nenad Avramovic locking eyes and refusing to let go until BRAVE CF president Mohammed Shahid stepped in.

BRAVE CF 80 goes down tomorrow night (6pm – GMT + 3) at the Khalifa Sports City Arena, in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The full fight card can be found below.
