Mohammad Hassan vs Mohamad Trigui
Next up we have Mohamad Trigui against Mohammad Hassan in a lightweight battle. This one should be interesting. Hassan is making his Desert Force debut but comes in with a formidable 7-2 record. Trigui makes his cage return after impressing against Ahmad al Boussairy in Bahrain.
Here comes Hassan out first cornered by Khalid Abdelhamid and Abdulkareem Ze Hulk!
Next out is Trigui cornered by his Rebels MMA team mate Abdelali Yachou and the Iraqi featherweight Ali Al Hadi who featured on season 1 of the Academia program together with Trigui.
Round 1: Here we go! They touch gloves. Hassan rushes in with punches and a huge overhand. He pushes Trigui up against the cage. They trade knees and punches. Trigui seems to be working towards a guillotine but Hassan uses the position to push Trigui to the ground. Hassan now in Trigui’s guard against the cage.
Hassan doing a good job of keeping the pressure up here. Yazan Ghattas stands them up. Trigui with a good low kick. Another one lands. Hassan rushes Trigui and pushes him up against the cage. Hassan looks for the takedown but ends up with Trigui on top of him in half guard. This could get ugly. Trigui switches to side moount, then north south. Hassan does a great job of scrambling and getting this one standing again.
They restart. Trigui throws a low kick that Trigui uses to catch him in a Guillotine!
Not sure what happened there. Hassan seems to have tapped out to a Guillotine choke from Trigui but Hassan claims he suffered a low blow. OK this is confusing. Let’s see what happens here.
A bit of confusion here. Hassan has not yet stood up and the doctor is in taking a look. He finally stands and out he goes.
It’s in and official! Trigui wins by TKO?! Interesting referee decision…
Arifa interviews Mohammad Hassan. Hassan claims it was the illegal blow that made him unable to continue the fight. Interesting. The replays are a tad bit inconclusive. Expect the debate over this one to rage on for a while.
