George Hickman Vs. Matt Sayles to Co-Headline Phoenix 1 MMA Card

Phoenix Fighting Championship, which takes place on December 10th, has announced its co-main event on the Mixed Martial Arts card.

Phoenix 1 will feature a whopping two fight cards, involving Muay Thai fights on one side, and MMA fights on the other.

The MMA card will be headlined by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu beast Davi Ramos and Nick “No Limit” Piedmont from Alliance MMA. Also from Alliance MMA, the co-main event features undefeated Matt Sayles (5-0) who will take on Tiger Muay Thai’s George Hickman (8-3).

Matt Sayles has had a flying start to his career, utilizing his impressive striking skills to overwhelm his opponents in four out of his five victories, with only one going the distance.

In the last fight in June, the 22-year-old took less than a minute to obliterate Ryan Lang in the first round with a huge right hand.

Sayles takes on Hickman who is a wrestling coach at the infamous Tiger Thai gym in Thailand, where only the tough survive and George’s strong wrestling credentials make him a formidable opponent for anyone.

Hickman is a 3x wrestling state champion and a former division one wrestler at Bloomsburg University, as well as being extremely well versed in Muay Thai under the tutelage of the famous trainer Manu N’Toh in Atlanta. Now he resides in Phuket, Thailand and trains with the various Muay Thai animals at Tiger Muay Thai as well as coaching wrestling there.

He’s a seasoned pro having fought in various different countries and despite the danger possessed by the dangerous Matt Sayles, one of Hickman’s strengths is that there is very little he hasn’t seen before in that cage.

Both fighters have a calm temperament and explosive attacks when they fight and this should be a classic fight between a fighter in his prime and a fighter who is looking like one of the world’s top prospects.
