Mark Hunt wants to fight Mike Tyson in Saudi Arabia

Mark Hunt announced that he will return to combat sports competition this year. “Super Samoan” looks to fight three times against opponents of similar age of his own, that being 50 years old. The former K-1 and MMA fighter considers two options for his return: signing a deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship or boxing in Saudi Arabia.

It all started with Hunt’s video on Instagram posted earlier this month. The Kiwi native stated that his goal is to fight three times this year against opponents who are 50 years old. That is because he will reach this age this year. He added that he want the first fight to take place in June.

He followed his return campaign with another video posted on his social media. The video uses a clip from the 2021 documentary movie Mark Hunt: The Fight of His Life. In that clip, a former K-1 commentator, Michael Schiavello talked about Hunt’s street fighting days. In the attached caption Mark Hunt challenged the BKFC heavyweight champion Mick Terrill to a title fight.

As far as a boxing fight in Saudi Arabia goes, the Samoan fighter had little to say. During his interview with the From The Stands YouTube channel Hunt stated that he’s in talks with people from Francis Ngannou’s camp, namely Mike Tyson.

He followed it with an Instagram Story post in which we can read that the bout could take place in December and it would be an eight-round affair. No further details are known.

Mark Hunt vs. Mike Tyson – tale of the tape

“Super Samoan” is a 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix champion, who sports a kickboxing record of 30 wins and 13 losses. Thirteen of those wins came by the way of a Knockout or TKO. He holds wins over such notable names as Peter Graham, Jerome Le Banner, and Stefan Leko. It’s worth noticing, that in a kickboxing ring Hunt mainly utilized his boxing skills to score most of his finishes.

After transiting to MMA Hunt stacked up 13 – 14, 1, 1 NC record. He secured decision wins over both Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva during his stint at Pride FC. Later in his career, he knocked out such individuals as Ben Rothwell, Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Derrick Lewis.

Hunt also has some boxing experience, as he holds a professional record of 1 – 2 – 1. His sole win was a knockout stoppage of Sonny Bill Williams.

Mike Tyson needs no introduction. One of the greatest boxers in history holds an impressive record of 50 wins, 6 losses, and 2 no contests. Probably Tyson’s biggest achievement was to be the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles, as well as the only heavyweight to unify them in succession. What’s more after his 1995 release from prison he managed to regain the WBA and WBC titles a year later. This put him next to names such as Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon, Evander Holyfield and George Foreman
