Omar Hussein vs. Alex Chizov – fight preview

In the prelims part of the PFL 9 2022 Playoffs fightcard both Omar Hussein and Aleksandr Chizov will make their promotional debuts. The event will take place on August 20th at Copper Box Arena in London.

Fighters’ profiles

Hussein has a 9 – 3 professional MMA record. Interestingly enough, the Jemeni fighter stacked up 8 – 3 amateur balance on the California competition circuit. He also made his professional debut in the Golden State. After scoring four consecutive wins his winning streak was put to an end by Max Roshkopf at Final Fight Championship 35 back in 2019. He bounced back and later made his UAE Warriors debut by defeating Tohir Zuahev at UAE Warriors 8. Since then he went 3 – 2 in the promotion and thanks to his most recent submission win over  Mohamed El Jaghdal he secured a contract with the Professional Fighters League.

Chizov harnessed his skill on the Baltic Sea region circuit, where he secured 8 wins and lost only 3 bouts. The Latvian fighter is a European circuit veteran, who has fought for various promotions across the continent. So far he won a total of 9 fights and lost only once. At the beginning of his professional career, he secured three consecutive wins with Arkhat Mynbaev stopping him back in 2017. Since then he made his way back to his winning ways as he currently rides another, six-fight winning streak. Due to his stellar performance, he was offered a contract with the PFL.

Fight prediction

The Jemeni won most of his fights by decision, which is a trend that goes back to his amateur days. The second most frequent outcome of his bouts is him submitting his opposition. He forced three of his opponents to tap with various choking techniques: triangle, guillotine, and D’arce choke. He only has 2 TKO wins to his name.

Chizov is a finishing machine, as six out of his nine wins came by the way of TKO. He was able to beat his opponents during the first or second round. Two of his wins came with a submission. Only once he was awarded victory by the judges.

Taking all this into consideration one can expect Omar to make this a marathon affair, where he will try to secure a decision win, while Chizov will be looking to add another quick finish to his record. Most likely by beating the Jemeni with his punches.
