It’s seemed like an eternity, but it’s finally here. Two men, massive amounts of heat, massive amounts of hype! Abdulkareem Al Selwady (5-1) will meet Rami Aziz (8-3) inside an octagon as part of the Brave FC inaugural installment, Brave 1.
This featherweight battle will take place on the September 23rd main card, to be headlined by Mohammad Fakhreddine vs Thiago Vieira.
The fighters have been engaged in a war of words for quite some time. Rami Aziz had originally called out Selwady after his loss to to Chabanne Chaibeddra, the fight which took place three months after Selwady lost his title in surprising fashion against Aziz Julaidan.
Having not received a response to his initial jarbs, Aziz turned up the rhetoric and threw a number of verbal bombs Selwady’s way. He accused Al Selwady of being ‘130 cm and weighing 85KG’ after a proposed bout fell apart following Selwady’s camp, allegedly requesting to change the upper weight limit.
There was plenty more, too.
Aziz followed that up with a Christmas video greeting to Selwady where he offered him the Ornament balls as an encouragement to fight him.
Selwady eventually answered via his Facebook page and accepted Aziz’ challenge but the bout never materialized.
The talks are over, and the two men will soon meet to settle their differences in the cage.
The team at Brave and KHK MMA managed to put together the fight that no other promotion could, and in the process have given MMA fans the chance to witness the fighters settle their differences once and for all.
Rami Aziz was last seen fighting at Desert Force 20 which took place in Dubai in January where he defeated Ali Al Qaisi by rear-naked choke. Selwady has not competed inside the cage since May of last year when he put on arguably his best performance against Lois Cadet, digging deep after losing the first round to win the remaining two.
Brave FC takes place September 23, 2016, at the Khalifa Sports City in Manama, Bahrain. Stay tuned on this space for more announcements!
