Arab MMA fans are in for a treat this summer as the second season of Desert Force Al Academiya will be ready to air on MBC action with a crazy twist and new bunch of 32 fighters from the best gyms in the Region ready to prove themselves as the best in the house. “Al Academiya” is an Arab reality television series and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition produced by MBC Action and Desert Force Championship. It previously aired for the first time on MBC Action. The show features amateur MMA fighters who live together in Jordan, and follows them as they train and compete against each other for a prized contract with the Desert Force. The series debuted in 2013, with its first episode, and crowned its first ever title holders in two weight classes, Mohammad Ghorabi from Lebanon at Welterweight and local Jordanian Tareq Hamdi at lightweight.
The filming of the second season of Al Academiya will start this month and continue for the next 3-4 months. This season, as the previous one, features two weight classes in the tournament. In an interview on MBC action, Desert Force CEO revealed that the two weight classes for this season will be Bantamweight (61 Kg), the newest weight class introduced to the promotion and Featherweight division (66 Kg). Not much information has been disclosed yet by Desert Force officials concerning the coaches and members of each team.
