After a long road as an amateur with 7 fights and 4 consecutive wins at Cage Warriors, Jordanian Yazan Janeb made his professional debut at Cage Warriors Fight Night 10 that took place Friday at King Hussein Youth City Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan.
Janeb wore down his opponent and controlled the fight almost at all times. Multiple armbar and triangle attempts in the first 2 rounds left Laghzali helpless. The fight-long dominance carried him to a victory 2.57 minutes into the third round after pinning his in a crucifix position and pounding his way to his first professional MMA victory.
Janeb mentioned after his fight:
“It was a very tough fight and Hicham was a very strong opponent that didn’t wanna give up. I respect such kind of fighters but at the end I was controlling the fight and did what it takes to finish by stoppage.
I am really proud of my team “Team Source” and myself for this win. I trained very hard for this and came in ready to make history. Thank God for everything”
Here’s what Yazan Janeb’s head coach had to say to ArabsMMA reporter Naeem Deranieh after the fight.
On his game plan:
A lot of people think that Yazan Janeb is just a Jiu Jitsu fighter, but he has trained with Muay Thai experts like Jarrah al Silawi. He is a really good striker, but he capitalized on his opponent’s weak ground game”
On whether we will see Yazan in the next Cage Warriors event on April 18th:
Actually, I don’t really know. He will cut to the welterweight, but I think he might fight because it’s a good opportunity that he doesn’t want to lose.
Yazan Janeb is the second Jordanian to ever fight as a professional in the European promotion Cage Warriors, after his team mate Jarrah “Hussein” Al-Silawi made his debut at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 61 back in December 2013.
