Yousef Wehbe | I Wasn’t In The Zone, But I Got The Job Done

Yousef Wehbe was handed the Desert Force lightweight championship belt after his convincing victory on Monday at Desert Force 24. Wehbe faced the division’s former champion, Mohamed Triki, and earned a unanimous decision win to become the new lightweight champion.

Early in the first round, Triki managed to knockdown Wehbe, but the latter recovered to grind his way to the title. Triki was visibly frustrated as Wehbe was taking him down willingly at his will on more than one occasion in the fight, almost fully shutting down his striking game.

This was Wehbe’s fourth consecutive win under the Desert Force banner, but it was bitter sweet to the Lebanese as he openly admits that didn’t put on the performance that he wanted.

Yousef Wehbe:

“Thank God I got the title. I promised to win the shield by the end of this year, and here I am. There are a lot of things that I should work on, this was not the performance that I wanted, but mission accomplished, I got the job done.”

Check out what he had to say in the post-fight video interview above.

  • how can he say that about anas? He fought duds in df! both df opponents is 0-2, fought like shit, almost lost to a fighter who should fight 66.. alllll talk

  • anas made his debut at desert force in 2013 while wehbe was unknown, but as we know the promotion gave more chances to jordanian and lebanese fighters for moving their records and for getting title sholts, wecan see jarrah; ghorabi and wehbe in every event while some big names like david bear or chaabane chaikbadra or saaheddin dekhissi fought one time in 2 years maybe, the promotion should give opportunity for eveyone from all arab world with judgement
