Georges Eid Vs Ahmad Saeb

Georges Eid vs Ahmed Saeb opens up the live card tonight. Georges most recently lost controversially (some claim) to Mohammad Fakhreddine and will look to avenge that loss today against Ahmed Saeb. Saeb beat Saif Quandour and was an alumnus of last seasons Academia. Can he build a win streak here tonight?

Saeb out first.

And here comes Eid! Few minutes away from the start of this one.

Round 1: Round 1 here we go!

Eid starts with a big overhand that lands flush and knocks Ahmed off his balance. .ANother overhand attempt by Eid but he telegraphed that one too much and it misses. Saeb shoots for the takedown and gets it and is now in Eid’s guard. Lets see what he can do from here. He tries to posture up but Georges doing a good job of denying him the space to.

The referee stands them up. They re-start. Eid catches Saeb off balance again and throws a big overhand that lands. Patient fight so far some both, they seem to be looking to explode in doses. Ahmed seems to be looking for the counter strikes and is waiting for Georges to commit.

End of round. Thats a 10-9 to Eid

Round 2: The audience is rightly whistling. They probably expected a bit more action from these two strikers.

Eid keeps on committing in doses but Ahmad doesnt look like he quite knows what to do. Of course he could surprise us all now but at the moment he isnt getting anything off. An attempt at a takedown by Ahmed fails.

The rest of the round plays out as expected with Eid throwing two or three strike combos and Ahmad not committing to much.

10-9 Eid

Round 3: Round 3 about to start. Ahmad has to figure something out here asap otherwise he will lose the decision

Here we go. Head kick by Saeb lands. This is much better already. Georges taunting him tellhim him there was nothing in it. Georges landing the better strikes in this round however.

The rest of the round sadly plays out like the first two rounds with very little pressing from Ahmad and the occasional combo from Georges.

10-9 Eid

That’s gotta be Georges fight but an exciting one it was not.

Next up Fakhreddine vs Selawi!

There is a lot of bad blood in this one. Mohammad Fakhreddine vs Jarrah al Selawi! Both fighters are amongst the top five Arab welterweights and are known for their finishes. Fakhreddine has never gone to a decision… ever! Jarrah once in 7 fights. Don’t expect this one to go the distance. Especially given that this was going to start yesterday at the weigh-ins!
